Hello! My name is Chechenia, and I’m a Hawksbill turtle.

I was named by my godfather, Hugo Quintero, on May 31st, 2021. That same day, I was captured as part of a very important conservation project taking place in the Bahía de Loreto National Park.

Don’t worry, after being examined and having information collected, I was released back into the sea. My species is key to the health of coral reefs, and although it’s still not known whether I’m male or female, I weigh 13.9 kg. Thanks to this Eco Alianza project in Loreto, I’m helping to protect my species and the oceans. I hope you continue to learn about us and support this important cause!
