Hello! I’m Chomy, a very special hawksbill sea turtle
I was captured on March 19, 2024, in Loreto Bay National Park—an important moment in my story. My sponsor, Irlanda Murillo, chose my name, giving me an identity within this conservation effort. At that time, my sex had not yet been determined, but I am part of a program that protects and studies turtles like me.
I invite you to learn about my journey: from my first capture to my most recent recaptures. Each encounter has helped track my growth and well-being, showing the positive impact of conservation.

A New Beginning
My adventure began on March 19, 2024, when I was first captured in Loreto Bay National Park. At that time, I weighed 14.8 kg, and although my sex had not yet been determined, I was already part of an important conservation effort.
During this experience, I was measured, recorded, and tagged so that my growth could be monitored. I also learned something interesting—hawksbill turtles are excellent swimmers and can reach speeds of up to 35 km/h in the water. After receiving care and attention, I was released back into the ocean. It was the beginning of my story and my journey in conservation!

Each recapture helps researchers better understand my development and confirms that conservation efforts are working. Thanks to this ongoing monitoring, I can continue my journey in the ocean while contributing to the protection of my species.
